Become Your Authentic Self

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website. My name is Maya Grudnowska and I am a fully qualified (M.A. Pysch., PGDipPsych), insured, and BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist for adults (18+) offering therapy in North London, Farringdon, Islington, Angel, Holborn, King's Cross and Clerkenwell. I offer sessions both in-person and online..

My psychotherapy practice is a safe space where you can feel seen, heard, and attended to.

As a therapist I am here to help you to listen to yourself and facilitate a deeper understanding of what it is that is bothering you, or keeping you stuck, so that you can move forward with renewed confidence and self-compassion.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDipPsych) and a Master’s degree (M.A. Psych) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Roehampton (BACP Accredited), as well as a BA in English Literature from Sussex University.

I am a bilingual therapist, fluent in both English and Polish. I have a particular interest in cultural issues, identity, and how our cultural and social environment shapes us.

My background in English Literature and my love of stories has enriched my psychotherapy learning. We all have a story to tell, and psychotherapy allows us to share our story and make sense of it, or offer a new perspective.

I have worked with a range of adults from 19 years old to late middle age. I have particular experience working with anxiety issues, panic attacks, low mood, stress, low-self esteem, and bereavement/loss.

As a registered professional I am committed to continuous CPD and regular supervision to enhance my practice and promote safe and ethical working.

Together, we explore what it is that is holding you back, and with new insight and understanding, you can rebuild yourself as the person you truly are.

As an Integrative therapist, I am trained to work within a range of key modalities, such as Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and CBT. However, as each individual is unique, so is the process of therapy and the relationship developed in the therapy room. That is why it is so important to find a therapist that is the right fit for you, and I know how daunting this can be. I offer a free, no obligation, initial 15-minute phone call to talk a bit more about what brings you to therapy, and if I might be the right therapist for you.

Part of the work is being listened to and heard, in a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space. We will work at a pace that is comfortable for you, and regularly check in on your therapeutic goals.

Therapy will help you to change your ways of relating to others, break old emotional patterns, and understand how your past has shaped you. It will help you to increase your self-awareness and approach life’s difficulties and challenges with resilience and a stronger sense of self.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy is rooted in the premise that all humans are inherently good and have the potential to grow and change in a positive direction, within the optimum conditions of empathy, non-judgement, and warmth.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy stems from psychoanalysis, originating in Freud, and understands the psyche as being made up of conscious and unconscious components. Bringing the unconscious to light helps us to move forward and resolve inner conflicts.

Cognitive Behavioural therapy

Cognitive-behavioural therapy says there is a link between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. We work at changing aspects of that link to create positive and meaningful change. A lot of the work is practical, and solution focused.
